Cancel a video render that's already running

The challenge

When you start a render, there's currently no way to stop it once it's running. If you kick off a render by mistake — for example sending a long video (say a full hour) into rendering that you don't actually need — you have to let it finish anyway. There's no cancel option, so you're stuck waiting on a result you'll just discard, and the render keeps consuming processing capacity the whole time.

Our approach

Let's add a cancel option for a render that's already in progress, so you can stop it at any point without having to work around it (for example by deleting scenes from the project). One click stops the render cleanly.

Expected impact

  • Stop a render you started by mistake instead of waiting for it to finish
  • Avoid producing and cleaning up video versions you don't need
  • Save processing capacity when a render is no longer wanted
